Patch Programs

Girl Scouts of Central Illinois offers girls many opportunities to take on new adventures while earning badges. Check out the patch programs available to girls and troops.

Monthly

The GSCI Monthly Patch Program is for troops and girls who are interested in additional activities. A new patch program is offered each month for girls to be introduced to a new topic with little preplanning needed for leaders. Use the patch program as meeting filler, a pre-meeting activity for the month, or an at-home project.

When the patch program is complete, follow the link below to order the fun patch and complete an evaluation.  Patches are $1.50 each and will be mailed the following month.  Patches must be ordered by the 15th day of the following month.

Bee-autiful Gardens
Pretty flowers, beautiful crops, and fruit bearing trees all have something in common……pollinators such as bees! Our bees are in trouble around the world due to pesticides, climate change, and disease but you can help by doing three service projects to help our friends the pollinators.

  Earth Day is Every Day
Yes, April 22nd is Earth Day but you can help our Blue Planet on each of the other 364 days of the calendar year too! Do three service projects.

On-Going

In order to continue to expand your horizons, GSCI offers several ongoing patches.  Below are patch programs that your troop or individual members can complete at any time.  Once the requirements are met, patches can be purchased at your local GSCI Trefoil Boutique (unless noted otherwise).  We love your feedback and stories from working on these patches.  Please share what you learned, how it impacted you, and any great pictures with Erin at elockwood@girlscouts-gsci.org.

Girl Scouts Mental Health Awareness Patch
With the increase in youth bullying, suicide and drug use, Girl Scouts are actively fighting to create change. Through a program written by International Bipolar Foundation to educate and reduce the stigma of mental illness, Girl Scouts can earn the Mental Health Awareness Patch developed by IBP  for playing a positive role in their communities. With approximately 1 in 4 people in the U.S. diagnosed with a mental illness, awareness of those impacted is also growing.

Free Being Me

Strong body confidence is an important step towards building self-esteem, empowering the leaders of tomorrow. But in societies all over the world, children and young people list the way they look among their top concerns. They feel under pressure to change their appearance to fit in with society’s narrow image of beauty, which is presented in the media and idealized by their peers. Global research shows that low body confidence holds young people back from reaching their full potential, with over 60 per cent of girls avoiding activities they love because they feel bad about their looks. When girls choose not to participate fully in this way, they are missing out on opportunities to grow and develop their capabilities in other ways, and we as a society miss out.

Free Being Me addresses this issue directly, helping you to support your group to become more body confident, and not let concerns about their appearance hold them back from becoming active, responsible and confident citizens of the world. Body confidence helps children and young people build the foundations they need to become role models and leaders in their communities.

Uniquely ME!

The Uniquely ME! program offers an exciting and simple way to help enhance girls’ self-esteem. As girls practice the self-esteem building concepts within the different activities, they are working toward the Girl Scout Leadership Outcomes by discovering and developing a strong sense of self gaining practical life skills, connecting with other girls and developing healthy relationships, and taking action to help other girls by sharing what they have learned.
