Have you ever thought about becoming an Outdoor Adventure Facilitator
for Girl Scouts? Join our amazing group of volunteer facilitators who
help provide fun outdoor adventure amenities and experiences to Girl
Scouts at GSCI camp properties. This blended course will focus on
information and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to small
craft emergencies on flat water, such as lakes and ponds. It will also
prepare you for non-swimming rescues for water emergencies, execute
self-rescue skills, and how to teach basic flat-water paddling
strokes. This training is valid for 2 years and can be renewed by
retaking the blended program.
Prerequisite:
Completing the pre-course work, that will be sent via email to
registrants prior to the training, before the day of the training.
Additionally, all participants must be able to swim 50 yards
with/without wearing a life jacket and tread water for one minute.
Participants must be able to paddle a canoe forward, backward, and
in a circle to pass course.
